OpenThe Pitch
Why ILE
One line, one short pitch, and the differentiators that survive scrutiny.
ILE is Iceland's invitation-only luxury DMC — we don't arrange travel, we author it, across Iceland and the rest of Scandinavia.
For your guests: "Iceland is more complicated than it looks — extreme, fast-changing weather, long driving distances, and logistics that shift by the day. ILE is a full-service DMC and tour operator that crafts every trip meticulously around your guest. Born-and-bred guides, our own private estates, a fleet built for the conditions, and one point of contact who owns the trip end to end."
Of all the DMCs we work with across more than 30 countries, I consider Dori and Iceland Luxury Expeditions to be the only true partners who fully understand the meaning of luxury beyond simply charging more for the same product.
ILE has set a new standard for luxury that was previously unfamiliar to the destination. The programs we operate with ILE are truly unparalleled compared to others in Iceland — particularly in the understanding that luxury is not simply about booking expensive hotels. ILE has access to exclusive experiences far removed from parking lots and tour buses, in places where no other travellers are present. They hold exclusive contracts with some of Iceland's most luxurious private villas and can curate seamless, high-end journeys for a wide range of special interests, including some of the most demanding and discerning clients we have worked with.
Iceland is a destination where the ever-changing weather dictates the day, and the ability to adapt gracefully is a skill few truly master. I have never had a client complain about the weather or the challenges it may bring. Somehow, the ILE team consistently turns potential disruptions into memorable and exceptional experiences.

ILE holds verified credentials from the principal bodies in luxury travel and golf tourism.
Talking Points
Objection Handling
Honest, on-brand answers to the questions agents hear most. Drawn from the ILE FAQ.
We're a luxury DMC: private, high-end, the best accommodation. Itineraries typically run $1,200–1,500 per person per day (private guided, premium stays). Below roughly $800 pppd it's hard for us to deliver to standard — and we'll honestly point you elsewhere. Sell ILE on access and value, not price.
Iceland changes constantly — weather, roads, availability. Trips need meticulous, local crafting and expert advice. ILE tailor-makes each itinerary to maximise enjoyment and removes all the operational risk from you and your guest.
We're full-service for a reason: we choose accommodation to fit the itinerary (and to house guides on private trips), and our hotel relationships unlock flexibility and extras — including added amenities at The Reykjavík EDITION. We'll make an exception for points, but ask to own the whole trip.
No one can guarantee them — they need clear skies, darkness, and active aurora. What we can promise is guides who track the forecast and chase the best odds. Set expectations early: under-promise, over-deliver.
The recent Reykjanes eruptions haven't disrupted travel or flights — isolated area, country is safe. Driving is genuinely different (narrow, gravel, winter ice), which is why we run privately guided only, Nov–Mar. Guest safety is our first, second and third priority.
Among the most LGBTQIA+-friendly destinations in the world. Reykjavík Pride each August is one of the year's biggest celebrations — a wonderful time to visit.

Quick Reference
Iceland Fact Sheet
The essentials for every brief. Download a white-label PDF to share with your guests.
Peak: Summer (Jun–end Aug) and Winter (esp. Christmas/New Year). September is a sweet spot — long days, mild, fewer crowds, strong aurora, both summer & winter activities possible.
Official season mid-Sept to end March; possible outside it but less optimal. Needs clear skies, darkness, and active aurora — our guides track the forecast.
First visit typically 5–7 days; full island 10–14+; Westfjords and remote regions add time.
Thermal baselayers; fleece mid-layers; quality down/synthetic jacket; rain shell; gloves, hat, scarf, good socks; walking or hiking boots; UV sunglasses.
Vetrarhátíð / Winter Festival (Feb); Þjóðhátíð, Westman Islands (first wknd Aug); Menningarnótt / Culture Night, Reykjavík (Sat after 18 Aug); Iceland Airwaves (Nov); Reykjavík Pride (Aug).
Volcanic activity isolated — no travel disruption. ILE does not offer self-drive Nov–Mar; privately guided only, with the right vehicles and expert guides.
To add: flight times & gateways to KEF · visa/currency/tipping/connectivity · travel-insurance guidance.
How ILE Works With Agents
Commission & Rates
Two pricing models. Payment terms and cancellation fees are standard across all agents. Commission rates are individual — your percentage is in your signed Cooperation Agreement, not a fixed ILE-wide number.
ILE provides you with net rates. You set your own markup or commission to your guests. Your margin is entirely your own.
- Full control over your sell price and margin.
- Price breakdowns provided on request — some supplier rates may be aggregated (confidential).
- White-label itineraries available — ILE branding removed on request.
ILE quotes the trip with your commission built into the sell rate. You invoice ILE after the trip completes and ILE has received full payment — ILE pays within 30 days. Your commission rate is the percentage in your signed agreement.
- Commission calculated on commissionable charges — excludes VAT, taxes, gratuities, third-party pass-throughs and merchant fees.
- Commission paid within 30 days of your invoice, after trip completion.
- Commission rate: individual per agent — your specific percentage is in your signed Cooperation Agreement. Not a standard ILE-wide figure.
Booking flow
- 30% deposit within 7 days of confirmation — non-refundable.
- Balance due 45 days before arrival. Trips within 45 days: full payment on confirmation.
- You pay ILE — even when collecting from guests. Flywire preferred.
- Quotes valid 7 days. 2 revision rounds included per proposal.
Cancellation
| 42+ days before arrival | 30% / deposit |
| 28–14 days | 50% |
| 14 days–72 hours | 75% |
| Under 72 hours | 100% |
What's agent-specific
- Your commission % — individual per agent, set in your signed agreement. Check yours if unsure.
- Net vs commissionable — selected per booking.
- Published "from" prices per experience — contact your ILE representative.
The above reflects ILE's standard Agency Cooperation & Services Agreement. Full working terms — including confidentiality, data protection, liability, and non-circumvention — are detailed in the Working Terms section below and in your signed agreement.
Live Exchange Rates
Currency Converter
Use during planning and quoting conversations to give your client a reliable ballpark in their home currency. Rates update daily (ECB mid-market via open.er-api.com). ILE processes payments through Flywire, which locks in its own guaranteed rate at the moment your client initiates payment — typically 1–2% above mid-market. The actual amount your client pays will be confirmed on the Flywire payment page.
1,000 ISK in major currencies
How payment works
Once all services are confirmed, ILE's sales team generates a unique Flywire payment link for that booking and sends it to your client. The exact guaranteed rate in your client's currency is shown when they open the link — this is when the rate locks in.

ILE Official Partner
66°North — Iceland's Outdoor Clothing Brand
Designed and proven in Iceland since 1926. Every ILE guide is outfitted exclusively in 66°North — and your guests can access the brand through ILE in ways that aren't available to the public.
Every ILE guide is dressed exclusively in 66°North — from GORE-TEX shell jackets to Polartec fleece mid-layers. The coordination is intentional: guests immediately recognise their team, and the clothing signals competence before a word is spoken. 66°North builds gear for Iceland's specific conditions, which is exactly why ILE chose them.
For your guests, it's also a subtle recommendation. When they ask "what's your guide wearing?" — you already have the answer.
Through ILE's partnership with 66°North, we can arrange a private after-hours opening of the flagship Reykjavík store exclusively for your guests — before the city wakes up, or after it closes. No other shoppers. Personal styling, full collection, and the story of how the brand has dressed Iceland's most demanding outdoors professionals for a century.
For UHNW guests, this is not shopping — it is an experience with a purchase attached. Ask your ILE representative to include it in the itinerary.
ILE Exclusive · Not publicly available
Request via your ILE representative when building the itinerary.
"In Iceland, the clothing your guides wear isn't a uniform — it's the same gear worn by the rescue teams and mountain professionals. ILE's guides are outfitted exclusively by 66°North, Iceland's most respected outdoor brand since 1926. If your guest wants to take a piece of that home, we can arrange a private store opening — just for your group, after hours."

How Proposals Work
- Quotes valid 7 days from issue — availability and pricing may change after that.
- 2 revision rounds included per proposal. Major redesigns or urgent turnarounds may carry a fee (confirmed in advance).
- A Booking exists only when: Agent confirms in writing + ILE issues written confirmation + deposit received.
- ILE targets 24-hour response on business days. Weekends and peak seasons may take longer.
What ILE Manages
- ILE books all accommodation, guiding, transfers, and activities unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- No self-drive Nov–Mar — ILE offers privately guided itineraries only in winter for safety reasons.
- Self-drive trips in season may carry a planning fee — credited against the final balance at booking.
- Aurora, wildlife, and weather are not guaranteed — ILE will always work to find alternatives.
Confidentiality & IP
- All ILE Proposals and itineraries are ILE intellectual property — licensed to you for the relevant trip only.
- Do not copy or reuse ILE itineraries for other clients without written consent.
- Non-circumvention: 24 months after the last completed trip, you may not directly contract ILE-introduced suppliers to replicate a substantially similar trip.
- Confidentiality obligations survive termination for 3 years (trade secrets: indefinitely).
Support & Communications
- ILE support available 09:00–17:00 Icelandic time, Mon–Fri (excluding Icelandic public holidays).
- Emergency after-hours support available during trips — fee applies (EUR/USD 40 / ISK 5,500 per call).
- Do not copy guests into emails with ILE without prior written approval, unless operationally required.
- Either party may terminate with 30 days' notice. Confirmed bookings continue under the Agreement.
- ILE will provide destination briefing materials and conduct webinars or team sessions on request — your team's confidence selling Iceland is in ILE's interest too.
Partnership & Non-Exclusivity
- This Agreement is non-exclusive and non-binding — you are free to work with other DMCs and operators at any time. No minimum volume is required.
- ILE is a B2B company first. We build relationships to last — not to lock you in. Our goal is to be the partner you choose because of what we deliver, not because of contractual obligation.
- Either party may exit with 30 days' notice. Confirmed bookings continue under the Agreement terms.
White-Label & Client Protection
- When working white-label, provide ILE with your logo and brand assets before the trip. ILE operates under your identity throughout.
- ILE staff will not identify as ILE to guests during a white-label trip. If asked, they describe themselves as your service partner or operations team.
- Your clients stay yours. If a guest contacts ILE directly for future travel, ILE refers them back to you — no exceptions. This applies for 24 months after trip completion.
- ILE will never knowingly develop a direct commercial relationship with guests you introduced.
Governed by the laws of Iceland. Disputes: District Court of Reykjavík (Héraðsdómur Reykjavíkur). This summary does not replace your signed Agreement — refer to the full document for legally binding terms.
Office Availability
Icelandic Public Holidays
ILE follows the Icelandic public holiday calendar. On these dates our offices are closed. A duty phone is available for genuine emergencies — not for routine enquiries. Guide assignments on public holidays carry a mandatory supplement in accordance with Icelandic labour law.
Three things to note
Office closed. ILE's Reykjavík office is closed on all public holidays. Emails and enquiries are responded to on the next working day.
Duty phone only. Our emergency duty line is active for matters that genuinely cannot wait — guest safety, last-minute logistical crises. It is not a general enquiry line.
Holiday supplement. Guides working on Icelandic public holidays are entitled to a holiday pay supplement under Icelandic law. This supplement is passed through at cost and will be itemised in your quote if applicable.
